Misfit Vapor 2 Smartwatch Gets Built-in GPS and NFC But Not Qualcomm’s Latest Chip

The new watch has a built-in heart rate sensor, GPS, and NFC, and is highly customizable but the innards haven’t changed much Last year’s Misfit Vapor (review) had all the makings of a decent smartwatch- it was chic, comfortable, and affordable, and came with a heart rate tracker as well. The company has now announced its successor, the Misfit Vapor 2, which provides options that will enable you to leave your house without your smartphone in tow. At INR 18,326, the second-generation Vapor smartwatch costs Rs. 3,665 more than its predecessor. The watch, which will be available in a 41mm and 46mm satin-finished stainless steel cases, sports an AMOLED touchscreen display. There are eight color options to choose from and the watch is highly customizable, thanks to the many watch faces and interchangeable straps.

New Look, Same Internals

Even though Qualcomm launched its Wear 3100 chipset last month, the new Misfit Vapor 2 smartwatch is fueled by the Snapdragon 2100 platform which is not equipped to harness the new Wear OS 2.1 to its full potential. That being said, most of the indispensable features offered by Google will still be accessible, such as the Google Assistant. The new OS is also a lot easier to use, more streamlined, and has a gesture-based navigation system which means that notifications and health stats would be just a swipe away. The smartwatch has 4GB of internal storage and a standalone wireless player which means you can listen to audio even when you do not have your phone on you.

Misfit Vapor 2 Offers Standalone GPS And Contactless Payment

Users in certain countries can also make use of the integrated NFC chip to carry out transactions with their smartwatch only. The watch also has a built-in GPS, which means you can leave your smartphone at home when going out for a run. The company also says that the watch is swim-proof, which means it is ok to go for a swim when you have it on. The Vapor 2 also has a built-in heart rate sensor and can also track the calories burned and steps taken. The Misfit Vapor 2 is compatible with both iPhone and Android smartphones and comes with a magnetic charger which ensures an all-day battery life. The watch will soon be available on Misfit’s website.
